This Thursday Challenge - Whiskers.

It's great to see the This Thursday Challenge up and running again.

Here is my entry to this weeks theme of 'Whiskers'

It is slightly lighter than this photo shows - more like a crushed velvet deep wine colour. I wanted it to look very vintagey and old and it does n natural light.

I inked the background, stamped and embossed a page of prose.

I used my flash for this photo - so you can see the details better, but it is nowhere near this bright in daylight, but just a shade lighter than the darker photo above

I decided that the page looked a bit 'plain' so used a T.H. clock mask to add a bit more interest.

I painted a vintage image and tore it and adhered it to the background - then darkened it with re-inker black until I got it the shades I liked.

I feel a bit foolish now - as the other entrants I have looked at are cute animals with whiskers.

Never mind - I love this very whiskery Victorian man - he looks very serious - and needs his moustache to tickle his nose and make him smile - don't you think?

Oh my holy heck -- creative people! I have no idea how you did ANY of that. Then I scrolled down and saw what you did with that tin (which was great) and I'm in WAY over my head. I'm a tiny bit frightened and am not sure I can find my way back out of this bohemian place, ha ha ha.

Seriously, thanks for visiting Foolery today, and for leaving such a nice comment.

Also? I prefer your interpretation of "whiskers" over the feline kind, I think. Very cool.

Cheers!

Great piece, I love it when someone comes up with a different twist on the theme.

I know just what you mean about that kind of colour. I find it happens with some colours too. Sometimes its good to try and take it back to its nearest colour with a brightness/darkness tool in a paint program. Don't know if you have one? I use paint shop pro or gimp ( that one is free to download but cant remember if it does the brightness thing .. i am sure it does as it does everything ) anyway it was just a thought.
Ok on with what i should be saying ... I love this one its really rich and very vintagy and just my kind of thing. Fab work !!
Also love the beautiful work on the one in the previous blog. Stunning !!

Never feel foolish about not conforming....being individual and having different ideas is the best way to be imo. More excellent work, Lottie.

Feel far from foolish Lottie - this is fab and similar to what I was going to do initially, but I ended up with Josh Hartnett instead!!
Never conform, just enjoy!!

I think this is gothically great, although if I saw him in the flesh I might change my mind!
All that matters is you liked it enough to show it on you blog - Try NOT to care what anyone else thinks - its your art be happy.
