Tribal Theme

There was a challenge by Lazy Kay to make a tag with the theme Tribal.

Well I made them yesterday - took me a while as I am a bit out of practice - can't show them yet though until they are swapped.

But I also made the arch too.

I stamped the flowery image onto white card and then painted the whole card around it matt black. I added the image of the lady, and with liquid pearls did the dots - I was thinking at the time of the wonderful dotted hand patterns the ladies have when they get married.

As usual it looks better in real life as the pearl drops are all raised and I added a pearl to her forehead

ATCs Sheet Music Swap

The challenge for a swap on ATCs for all forum was to make three ATCs using a piece of sheet music.

I used a couple of old pieces of sheet music from a little French book I found in a charity shop.


This and the following one is made using the music to Marseillaise - hence the colouring.

I used a MADJAK stamp from (Linda) at blumoth1971@hotmail.com for the face. The colours are inked and there is a lot of texture and embossing which does not show up sadly.



This is another section of the above sheet, inked colours, embossed edging,and the red roses have swirls of embossing, again which does not show up in the photo.



The last two are on very aged French music scores, the top has a mask and hat which is painted and embossed - and edged with 18ct Krylon pen which looks lovely in daylight - and mirrors the aged gold embossing on the mask. I saw the mask and hat in a book I was reading about the French Revolution so decided to draw and paint both for this.

The last one is a stamped image of a vintage lady, aged to look as though it is on a piece of reclaimed paper from that era.

The border is really textured like an old wooden picture frame, which I created using 'No Nails' mixed with acyclic paint until I got the colour I wanted.

These have now been received in USA so I can at last post them on here.

'Same but different swap'

I recently took part in a 'Same but different' swap organized by 'Lazy K'

She sent us each the same materials and we had to use all the things and could add some of our own.

I stained the white card brown with ink and left it to dry a day. I cut up the different papers (the dark brown is velvet) to give layered effect.

I mounted the image onto a piece of my own flowery paper.

The image was printed on acetate - so I decided to colour the background with alcohol inks to give it lovely shades to compliment the backing papers and card.

I enhanced the ladies top with alcohol inks too and painted in the rose.

The 'pendant' I made utilising the seed beads LK had sent and the curtain ring. (I threaded the beads onto wire first.) Then I painted in another rose, and mounted that on the reverse of the curtain ring and then onto the wired beads to give a pendant effect.

I finished it off by dyeing the white lace to match.

It is photographed on cream material by the way - that is not the card.

Tryptych ATCs - Romantic

These are my first efforts of making a tryptych ATC. I used a patterned card for the outer cover, which I sprayed with a shimmery colour mist to enhance the different shades and to give it a shimmer.

I also outlined the edges with old gold paint, mounted two cardboard cut outs and painted those old gold - to make it look like opening doors to reveal....



Glossy photo paper which I painted with alcohol inks and marbled it with metallic silver, and painted the edges in the silver too.





I used the same technique as above for the outside.




The inside was collaged onto bright red paper, on which I stamped and embossed in thick gold.

Gloriously Gold - last one

This really is gloriously golden - but the scan makes it look dull. I have painted the vintage bath and textured it, and painted the rose, and the tap is very very shiny 18ct gold!

She looks a classy lady so I thought she deserved an 18ct gold bangle that too looks glitteringly gold

The vintage photo is also edged in gold and mounted on a background ATC which I painted and textured too - to look as though it is wet!

A new challenge Gloriously Gold

Well this was harder than I imagined it to be - the challenge sounded easy - but in practice to get something gloriously gold and looking interesting is another thing. Photos and scans do not show up the bright shiny effect of the gold - and especially the 22ct gold pen I used on this - it is so gloriously bright in daylight - but here it looks dark and dull. And 'Lily' is pale pink too - I used blusher for that.
The ATC is on the blue paper just for scanning purposes.
The collaged area is just the Japanese red and gold paper.






Now this one was very experimental. The backing paper is inked and tiny gold flecks have been added. The ATC has been stamped and embossed quite a few times to build up the texture - and a stamped Japanese calligraphy meaning Happiness - was stamped into the embossing.

The swirl is cardboard and painted and then heated to create more texture. 22ct gold used again on here in places. I painted a Kimono and inked in the facial features of the Geisha.






This last one is a vintage photo which I have enhanced with 22ct gold penwork - I love this image. The backing board is textured which I have painted over three or four times to make it look like a solid frame
